Richmond Operatic Society's spring 2012 production will be...
Set on America's western frontier against a background of conflict between farmers and cattlemen, Oklahoma! perfectly integrates song, dance and story to tell the tale of farm girl Laurey and the two rivals for her affections, happy-go-lucky cowboy Curly and the sinister farm hand Jud.
Featuring the classic songs 'Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'', 'Many a New Day', 'The Farmer and the Cowman', 'All er Nuthin'', 'I Cain't Say No', 'Kansas City', 'The Surrey with the Fringe on Top' and 'People Will Say We're in Love' .
Music by Richard Rodgers, Book & Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein. Based on Lynn Riggs' 'Green Grow the Lilacs'. Original dances by Agnes De Mille.
Oklahoma! will be performed at the Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond on Wednesday 16 to Saturday 19 May 2012.
