Richmond Operatic Society's spring 2010 production will be...
The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
This spring we creep down old-time Fleet Street for the tale of demon barber Sweeney Todd. Wrongly imprisoned by a corrupt judge, Sweeney returns from transportation vowing revenge for being taken from his wife and daughter. But when others get in his way - and end up dead - his landlady proposes a plan to safely dispose of them *and* make some money. Anyone care for a pie...?
Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Hugh Wheeler, adapted by Christopher Bond, originally directed by Harold Prince.
Please note that Sweeney is a dark show, containing adult themes such as murder, cannibalism and attempted suicide. Parents are strongly advised to investigate the show further before allowing their children to see it.
Sweeney Todd will be performed at the Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond on 2-5 June 2010.
Tickets are available from the box office on 01748 825 252 or at Victoria Road, Richmond (opposite the Tourist Info Centre).
