"All the actors and actresses, those with big parts as well as small, gave 100%. The scenery and music added to the wonderful performance."
Sometimes being an audience member just isn't enough. If you want to sing, act, dance, direct, conduct, choreograph, stage-manage, build sets, paint scenery, design costumes, do publicity, arrange props or all of the above - why not join us?
Current Position
Rehearsals for our spring production Sweeney Todd will begin on 8 December 2009. New members welcome! However, please note that this show contains adult themes including murder, cannibalism, forced marriage and attempted suicide. Parents are asked to investigate the show before allowing their children to take part.

ROS are based in Richmond, North Yorkshire. If you are based in Richmond Upon Thames, you may wish to try the Barnes and Richmond Operatic Society instead.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are usually held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 7.30 - 9.30. Additional rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons as required. During show week we rehearse or perform every night, with (optional) post-show sessions in the pub afterwards and an after-show party on the last night.
We own our own premises (for the address and a map see Contact Us). We have a hall, a costume store, a props cupboard and a kitchen - although we don't have a lot in the way of heating. We also have our own pianist and, most importantly, a fantastic group of people.
We usually do two shows each year, in May/June and November/December. Rehearsals start on average 3-4 months beforehand, depending on the show. If you don't want to perform, you can always help backstage. We also have social events throughout the year.
And yes, new members can and do take principal roles, up to and including the leads. While our members quite often earn long service medals, they aren't required to audition!
Patrons
You can help support Richmond Operatic Society by becoming a Patron. For a small subscription you will receive a newsletter informing you of our social events and forthcoming shows. Contact Us to join.
